Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
1 Beatus vir qui non abiit in consilio impiorum,
et in via peccatorum non stetit,
et in cathedra pestilentiæ non sedit;
et in via peccatorum non stetit,
et in cathedra pestilentiæ non sedit;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
2 sed in lege Domini voluntas ejus,
et in lege ejus meditabitur die ac nocte.
et in lege ejus meditabitur die ac nocte.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
3 Et erit tamquam lignum quod plantatum est secus decursus aquarum,
quod fructum suum dabit in tempore suo:
et folium ejus non defluet;
et omnia quæcumque faciet prosperabuntur.
quod fructum suum dabit in tempore suo:
et folium ejus non defluet;
et omnia quæcumque faciet prosperabuntur.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
4 Non sic impii, non sic;
sed tamquam pulvis quem projicit ventus a facie terræ.
sed tamquam pulvis quem projicit ventus a facie terræ.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
5 Ideo non resurgent impii in judicio,
neque peccatores in concilio justorum:
neque peccatores in concilio justorum:
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
6 quoniam novit Dominus viam justorum,
et iter impiorum peribit.
et iter impiorum peribit.
