Psalm 102
1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.
101:1 Oratio pauperis, cum anxius fuerit, et in conspectu Domini effuderit precem suam.
2 ¶ Domine, exaudi orationem meam,
et clamor meus ad te veniat.
et clamor meus ad te veniat.
2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
3 Non avertas faciem tuam a me:
in quacumque die tribulor, inclina ad me aurem tuam;
in quacumque die invocavero te, velociter exaudi me.
in quacumque die tribulor, inclina ad me aurem tuam;
in quacumque die invocavero te, velociter exaudi me.
3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.
4 Quia defecerunt sicut fumus dies mei,
et ossa mea sicut cremium aruerunt.
et ossa mea sicut cremium aruerunt.
4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.
5 Percussus sum ut fœnum, et aruit cor meum,
quia oblitus sum comedere panem meum.
quia oblitus sum comedere panem meum.
5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
6 A voce gemitus mei
adhæsit os meum carni meæ.
adhæsit os meum carni meæ.
6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
7 Similis factus sum pellicano solitudinis;
factus sum sicut nycticorax in domicilio.
factus sum sicut nycticorax in domicilio.
7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
8 Vigilavi, et factus sum sicut passer solitarius in tecto.
8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.
9 Tota die exprobrabant mihi inimici mei,
et qui laudabant me adversum me jurabant:
et qui laudabant me adversum me jurabant:
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,
10 quia cinerem tamquam panem manducabam,
et potum meum cum fletu miscebam,
et potum meum cum fletu miscebam,
10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.
11 a facie iræ et indignationis tuæ:
quia elevans allisisti me.
quia elevans allisisti me.
11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.
12 Dies mei sicut umbra declinaverunt,
et ego sicut fœnum arui.
et ego sicut fœnum arui.
12 But thou, O Lord, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.
13 Tu autem, Domine, in æternum permanes,
et memoriale tuum in generationem et generationem.
et memoriale tuum in generationem et generationem.
13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
14 Tu exsurgens misereberis Sion,
quia tempus miserendi ejus, quia venit tempus:
quia tempus miserendi ejus, quia venit tempus:
14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.
15 quoniam placuerunt servis tuis lapides ejus,
et terræ ejus miserebuntur.
et terræ ejus miserebuntur.
15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.
16 Et timebunt gentes nomen tuum, Domine,
et omnes reges terræ gloriam tuam:
et omnes reges terræ gloriam tuam:
16 When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
17 quia ædificavit Dominus Sion,
et videbitur in gloria sua.
et videbitur in gloria sua.
17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
18 Respexit in orationem humilium
et non sprevit precem eorum.
et non sprevit precem eorum.
18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.
19 Scribantur hæc in generatione altera,
et populus qui creabitur laudabit Dominum.
et populus qui creabitur laudabit Dominum.
19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;
20 Quia prospexit de excelso sancto suo;
Dominus de cælo in terram aspexit:
Dominus de cælo in terram aspexit:
20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;
21 ut audiret gemitus compeditorum;
ut solveret filios interemptorum:
ut solveret filios interemptorum:
21 To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;
22 ut annuntient in Sion nomen Domini,
et laudem ejus in Jerusalem:
et laudem ejus in Jerusalem:
22 When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.
23 in conveniendo populos in unum, et reges,
ut serviant Domino.
ut serviant Domino.
23 He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.
24 Respondit ei in via virtutis suæ:
Paucitatem dierum meorum nuntia mihi:
Paucitatem dierum meorum nuntia mihi:
24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.
25 ne revoces me in dimidio dierum meorum,
in generationem et generationem anni tui.
in generationem et generationem anni tui.
25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
26 Initio tu, Domine, terram fundasti,
et opera manuum tuarum sunt cæli.
et opera manuum tuarum sunt cæli.
26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
27 Ipsi peribunt, tu autem permanes;
et omnes sicut vestimentum veterascent.
Et sicut opertorium mutabis eos, et mutabuntur;
et omnes sicut vestimentum veterascent.
Et sicut opertorium mutabis eos, et mutabuntur;
27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
28 tu autem idem ipse es, et anni tui non deficient.
28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
29 Filii servorum tuorum habitabunt,
et semen eorum in sæculum dirigetur.
et semen eorum in sæculum dirigetur.
