Psalm 118
1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
117:1 Alleluja. Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus,
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Dicat nunc Israël: Quoniam bonus,
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
3 Dicat nunc domus Aaron:
Quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
Quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
4 Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
4 Dicant nunc qui timent Dominum:
Quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
Quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
5 I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.
5 De tribulatione invocavi Dominum,
et exaudivit me in latitudine Dominus.
et exaudivit me in latitudine Dominus.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
6 Dominus mihi adjutor;
non timebo quid faciat mihi homo.
non timebo quid faciat mihi homo.
7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
7 Dominus mihi adjutor,
et ego despiciam inimicos meos.
et ego despiciam inimicos meos.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
8 Bonum est confidere in Domino,
quam confidere in homine.
quam confidere in homine.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
9 Bonum est sperare in Domino,
quam sperare in principibus.
quam sperare in principibus.
10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.
10 Omnes gentes circuierunt me,
et in nomine Domini, quia ultus sum in eos.
et in nomine Domini, quia ultus sum in eos.
11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
11 Circumdantes circumdederunt me,
et in nomine Domini, quia ultus sum in eos.
et in nomine Domini, quia ultus sum in eos.
12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
12 Circumdederunt me sicut apes,
et exarserunt sicut ignis in spinis:
et in nomine Domini, quia ultus sum in eos.
et exarserunt sicut ignis in spinis:
et in nomine Domini, quia ultus sum in eos.
13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.
13 Impulsus eversus sum, ut caderem,
et Dominus suscepit me.
et Dominus suscepit me.
14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
14 Fortitudo mea et laus mea Dominus,
et factus est mihi in salutem.
et factus est mihi in salutem.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
15 Vox exsultationis et salutis
in tabernaculis justorum.
in tabernaculis justorum.
16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.
16 Dextera Domini fecit virtutem;
dextera Domini exaltavit me:
dextera Domini fecit virtutem.
dextera Domini exaltavit me:
dextera Domini fecit virtutem.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
17 Non moriar, sed vivam,
et narrabo opera Domini.
et narrabo opera Domini.
18 The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
18 Castigans castigavit me Dominus,
et morti non tradidit me.
et morti non tradidit me.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord:
19 Aperite mihi portas justitiæ:
ingressus in eas confitebor Domino.
ingressus in eas confitebor Domino.
20 This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter.
20 Hæc porta Domini:
justi intrabunt in eam.
justi intrabunt in eam.
21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
21 Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me,
et factus es mihi in salutem.
et factus es mihi in salutem.
22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
22 Lapidem quem reprobaverunt ædificantes,
hic factus est in caput anguli.
hic factus est in caput anguli.
23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
23 A Domino factum est istud,
et est mirabile in oculis nostris.
et est mirabile in oculis nostris.
24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
24 Hæc est dies quam fecit Dominus;
exsultemus, et lætemur in ea.
exsultemus, et lætemur in ea.
25 Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
25 O Domine, salvum me fac;
o Domine, bene prosperare.
o Domine, bene prosperare.
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
26 Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini:
benediximus vobis de domo Domini.
benediximus vobis de domo Domini.
27 God is the Lord, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
27 Deus Dominus, et illuxit nobis.
Constituite diem solemnem in condensis,
usque ad cornu altaris.
Constituite diem solemnem in condensis,
usque ad cornu altaris.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
28 Deus meus es tu, et confitebor tibi;
Deus meus es tu, et exaltabo te.
Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me,
et factus es mihi in salutem.
Deus meus es tu, et exaltabo te.
Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me,
et factus es mihi in salutem.
29 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
29 Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus,
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
