Psalm 83
1 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
82:1 Canticum Psalmi Asaph.
2 ¶ Deus, quis similis erit tibi?
ne taceas, neque compescaris, Deus:
ne taceas, neque compescaris, Deus:
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3 quoniam ecce inimici tui sonuerunt,
et qui oderunt te extulerunt caput.
et qui oderunt te extulerunt caput.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 Super populum tuum malignaverunt consilium,
et cogitaverunt adversus sanctos tuos.
et cogitaverunt adversus sanctos tuos.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 Dixerunt: Venite, et disperdamus eos de gente,
et non memoretur nomen Israël ultra.
et non memoretur nomen Israël ultra.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6 Quoniam cogitaverunt unanimiter;
simul adversum te testamentum disposuerunt:
simul adversum te testamentum disposuerunt:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 tabernacula Idumæorum et Ismahelitæ,
Moab et Agareni,
Moab et Agareni,
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Gebal, et Ammon, et Amalec;
alienigenæ cum habitantibus Tyrum.
alienigenæ cum habitantibus Tyrum.
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
9 Etenim Assur venit cum illis:
facti sunt in adjutorium filiis Lot.
facti sunt in adjutorium filiis Lot.
9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 Fac illis sicut Madian et Sisaræ,
sicut Jabin in torrente Cisson.
sicut Jabin in torrente Cisson.
10 Which perished at En-dor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Disperierunt in Endor;
facti sunt ut stercus terræ.
facti sunt ut stercus terræ.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 Pone principes eorum sicut Oreb,
et Zeb, et Zebee, et Salmana:
omnes principes eorum,
et Zeb, et Zebee, et Salmana:
omnes principes eorum,
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
13 qui dixerunt: Hæreditate possideamus sanctuarium Dei.
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 Deus meus, pone illos ut rotam,
et sicut stipulam ante faciem venti.
et sicut stipulam ante faciem venti.
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
15 Sicut ignis qui comburit silvam,
et sicut flamma comburens montes,
et sicut flamma comburens montes,
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 ita persequeris illos in tempestate tua,
et in ira tua turbabis eos.
et in ira tua turbabis eos.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17 Imple facies eorum ignominia,
et quærent nomen tuum, Domine.
et quærent nomen tuum, Domine.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
18 Erubescant, et conturbentur in sæculum sæculi,
et confundantur, et pereant.
et confundantur, et pereant.
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
19 Et cognoscant quia nomen tibi Dominus:
tu solus Altissimus in omni terra.
tu solus Altissimus in omni terra.
